PASS PLUS
Pass Plus is a practical training course that helps New Drivers improve their skills and drive more safely.
Pass Plus - Why? Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years of passing their test due to a lack of driving experience. Pass Plus can help fill this gap. The course aims to build upon your newly acquired driving skills and knowledge, and can provide reassurance. It will teach you how to anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards. Pass Plus will help you to become more competent on the roads. This will give you (and your parents) more confidence when you are driving.
Pass Plus is made up of SIX practical modules, which are:
Driving in Towns
Driving in all Weathers
Driving on Rural roads.
Driving at Night
Driving on Dual Carriageways
Driving on Motorways
Driving in Towns. Do you know what a "Bus Gate" or a "LEZ" is? It could cost you if you don't.
Driving in All Weathers. Would you go out in this?
Driving on Rural Roads. Is this good fun or hard work?
Driving at Night. What should I be aware of?
Driving on Dual Carraigeways. Safer than Motorways?
Anyone who holds a full UK licence is eligible to take part in the Pass Plus scheme. You will not have to take a test at the end of the course, but I will be continually assessing you throughout. The format is similar to our Driving Lessons, but much more relaxed. You must successfully complete all the modules in the course to achieve or exceed the standard, to gain your certificate.
Completing a Pass Plus course and receiving your Pass Plus certificate. This can substantially reduce the cost of insurance premiums, which can be a significant saving for new or teenage drivers. It is like having a “No Claims Bonus” for your first policy. Sometimes the amount of the Insurance discount will repay the cost of the course.
In addition to the core modules, we will also consider:
Navigation. Planning a journey to a specific destination using Sat-Nav or Maps.
Basic Maintenance. Fuelling the car and Show Me / Tell Me in practice.
In-Car Entertainment. Radio or Music is a real part of everyday driving. Bring a Memory Stick with your favourite music, or we can connect your Phone to the car's Bluetooth.
Drive Through. For sessions over 2 hours, we will stop for a break at McDonald’s (other drive-throughs are available) for a coffee and a burger.
The Pass Plus course is at least 6 hours. If you can do the whole course in one, 6.5-hour session, with time built in for a coffee/toilet break, it has many more benefits than 1 or 2 hour sessions. We can cover a greater distance; typically Glasgow, Edinburgh & Perth.
The price of the Coffee & Burger is included in the cost of the course.
